Multiple glazing__ 16 total gradient washes on 300 lb hp paper 11"x 15." In my watercolor class I get my paintings critique and the critique was to grey down the sheep so the eye does not stop, but flows through the painting.
Multiple glazing... 18 glazes total on 140 lb cold press paper. This is a rendition of Van Gogh starry night series. I was not sure what to do with it. The paper started breaking down so I stopped with the glazes. I got this far, needs a lot more detail. I decided to put modern day people in just for change. I guess..... I am taking his composition and making it my own painting. I had a very bad reference print of the original. I used the grid method for drawing it on the wc paper, but I still struggled with the different angles. I had to stop correcting or make a muddy painting. WIP=\
Another multiple glaze painting on 300lb hp paper, using only MaimerBlu paints, 15 glazes. This one too came out darker, but I wanted to make a painting. This is my muted series.
A 11"x15" watercolor on 300lb HP Fabriano paper. Another Catherine Anderson. This is my 2nd attempt. It is a little dark for my liking, but hopefully I will master the technique and make it my own painting.
I got a Catherine Anderson DVD and this is my first attempt at her multiple glazing technique. She uses MaimeriBlu watercolors paints on 300lb HP paper. I love painting on the paper, but I did not have all the colors in that brand, so I had to make due with Holbein and W/N. I love her work and this is really out of my comfort zone, since I like vibrant colors. I have 3 more in the works. Some paintings have 16 glazes total and all in different colors. The photo turn out more greyed down, it is more golden in real life.
