Three Little Oaks just sitting on a Hill

A 15"x11" watercolor on 300lb hp paper.  Used multiple glaze technique.  I applied 14 glazes of color, by the 11th glaze the sky was getting too dark, so I glazed a layer of opera rose and iridescent yellow to soften the darks.

  1. Your paintings are always so full of vibrancy which must be due to the glazing - something which I must start doing more of in my own work, this is really lovely Karen

  3. Wow 14 glazes... I know I use layering but that's a lot. I didn't realise you could keep adding that many. I pressume you build them up very thinly. Thanks for sharing. Fabulous work Karen.

  5. Thank you Sharon! Just remember to map out the path of light.

Thank you Rita and yes it does take patience, usually I start about 4 together

Thank you Laura, Some artist have done 80 glazes, I have no patience for that many. You have to keep that path of light. I think my glazes are a little too heavy.

Thank you Renate! Glad you like the red fence

  6. Nice work Karen, although the picture goes dark and secure the work is much better than what you see.
